The Irish Reflexologists Institute in 2011:
The institute office is located in Drogheda, Co. Louth (North East Ireland). The Board of directors consists of five members who oversee the running of the Institute.

The institute has just over 400 current Members. This is made up from two membership types – Full and Associate. Membership is renewed yearly and can be done so online at www.reflexology.ie.(external link) To renew full membership each year, members must have obtained continuous development points, hold a current First Aid Certificate and have professional Indemnity Insurance.

IRIL members are recognised by all major Irish Health insurance companies. This means that member’s clients, who belong to any of these health insurers, may be eligible for a refund for some of their reflexology costs depending on their level of cover.

At the moment in Ireland, there is no regulation of complementary therapies but this is something we hope will change in the future and are working with the government to do so.

The Institute produces a professional Journal called “Feet First”, three to four times a year.
